Waiting for better weather; Reading the online forums

It was a dark and stormy night. … No, wait. That one has been done before.

A cold wind drives the snow from the northwest, and the motorcycle sits in the garage. Okay, that sounds a little more like what is really happening.

What is a rider to do? Read the boards from all the various forums. Here are a few that I visit regularly:

I have been surprised that few motorcyclists take advantage of blogs to post their riding adventures. When I started looking for those unique posts, I came across an online effort to gather regular contributors to our sport. Take a look at Motorcycle Bloggers International. I have also discovered a few by noticing links within the signatures of those online-forum participants.

Soon, some of these links will appear on the Sojourn menu, a quick link.

Everynow and then, a rider will share their stories and rides, in any one of these forums. The most unique feature is the ability to look for information or find some help about one’s motorcycle issues. Help from somewhere is almost instantaneous. However, posts can also turn into a war of words over who is right or wrong about solutions to problems or whose motorcycle is the best.

Here is my opinion on the best motorcycle: it is the one sitting in your garage.

Okay. I’m finished scribbling now. I’m going to the garage to sit on the bike and dream a little.–DBrent
