Anybody who is self employed knows that a true vacation is a rare thing. We find things to do to take care of business or keep it going. It’s a necessity.
So, I’m reading. Reading–that doesn’t sound like work. Well, yes it is if its a book review. I’ve been trying to finish reading Ted Simon’s book, Dreaming of Jupiter. He repeated his 1970s around-the-world trip on a Triumph, in 2001 and 2002 starting out at the age of 69. In a week or so, I’ll be interviewing Ted and posting another conversation. Stay tuned.
My brother, a Sprint Wireless customer, purchased one of those air cards that provides broadband access from anywhere for his computer. It’s pretty cool. My wireless provider, Verizon, has a similar product, and after twice-daily trips to find wi-fi connections, I’m thinking this makes a lot of sense while traveling. However, they aren’t cheap. Communications is one of my biggest expenses.
Today’s post is a little on the shorter side, but there is a lot more to come. I want to get this one posted, and will post the remainder of the day tomorrow. Which means I now have to go find that wi-fi connection.
Today is Mom’s 80th birthday. Today is the home opener for the Arizona Diamondbacks. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. The D’backs are one of my photography customers from when I was the photographer for their Class A Minor League Team, the South Bend (Indiana) Silver Hawks. Knowing and publishing some of my work in Diamondbacks Magazine in the past, and knowing I was in town, they have happily provided four tickets for tonight’s game against the Dodgers. The game is sold out.
Happy Birthday, Mom.–DBrent
Stay tuned for a little baseball.
