E-Mail changes coming for RSS feed

Note to Readers:

I have been experimenting with Feedburner to deliver the posts via an e-mail feed. Unfortunately, this service is not working as expected and I am terminating it. The Feedburner signup has been removed from the site. The service will be terminated in a few days.

The old reliable RSS feed still works, and those subscriptions should continue without interruption.

Thanks for your understanding.–DBrent

Post Note: Immediately after deactivating the Feedburner service, 15 posts showed up in my RSS reader. You may encounter the same activity. Nothing is broken. In fact, it may have been broken because of the Feedburner. If you have issues, let me know through the Feedback form.

Learning new skills; networking at Ohio podcamp

I attended my first podcamp, today, along with about 130 other individuals who want to know more about podcasting. Of course, I’ve been doing a little podcasting here, but there is a lot more to learn.

Podcamp gave all of us the opportunity to learn and network with others who have been doing it for a while, and to coach or mentor those who are trying to find out what it’s all about. That’s one of the great things about podcamp–it’s about sharing.

Want to learn more? Visit the Ohio podcamp web site and watch the presentations.

NPPA Convention focuses on new media

The 2008 National Press Photographer Association national convention, “Convergence 2008,” focused on what else? New Media. Newspapers are broadcasting online. TV stations are producing print online. Radio stations are producing audio slideshows. It seems all of the world’s media is converging on new media.

Journalists can no longer distinguish themselves as print, or broadcast, or radio. We all carry digital recorders, reporter’s notebooks, a camera, and sometimes a video camera. Speakers presented ideas and bodies of work. Students of the Multimedia Immersion course learned how to produce multimedia stories.

You can read more about the convention at NPPA.org.

Journalists are trying to learn how to report the news in a new medium while earning a living. Meanwhile, newspapers are reducing staff while looking for journalists who are skilled in online reporting. It’s a new world out there.

V-Strom DL650: The First 1,000 Miles

V-Strom at Ceasar Creek It’s a little rainy, today. So I thought I would put together a report–my observations and experience with the V-Strom DL650–my new motorcycle.

You can download and read the full report here. I have taken the time to create a PDF document that you can read online or print and take with you.–DBrent

New computer, learning curve begins

Just a quick post to keep you informed. This morning, I learned that my faithful laptop indeed did have a hardware malfunction. The LCD monitor is failing. The cost to repair: up to $400. Solution: new HP laptop with lots of bells, whistles and speed!

But … this new computer comes with Vista. It’s different. Stay tuned. I am relearning a few things. Vista seems to be designed for ease of use–intuitive–for people who don’t know how to format a drive. So, I may have to go to the library and borrow a book: Vista for Dummies.–DBrent
